Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti | Espresso, Hazelnut & Sea Salt
A guide to the flavor, story, texture, and coffee-pairing ritual behind our chocolate hazelnut biscotti. Toasted hazelnuts, Belgian semisweet chocolate chunks, cocoa, coffee extract, and a finish of sea salt. When the three flavors come together, the result is something close to a hazelnut chocolate spread, in biscotti form.
Before you even take the first bite, the mocha aroma hits you. Rich, roasted, warm. Then you bite in and the roasted hazelnuts come first, followed by the mocha and espresso note, and then a bite of Belgian semisweet chocolate chunks. When all three flavors come together, it almost tastes like Nutella. Rich, satisfying, and deep. Finished with a hint of sea salt that takes the whole flavor profile to another level.
That is what our chocolate hazelnut biscotti is. Not just a chocolate biscotti with a coffee note. A layered, three-part flavor experience with a mocha personality that feels like a small coffeehouse dessert in every bite.

What Does Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti Taste Like?
The experience starts before the first bite. As the biscotto approaches your mouth, the mocha aroma comes through first. Warm. Roasted. Rich.
Then you bite in. The first flavor you catch is the roasted hazelnut, warm and toasty, the way a good hazelnut should taste. Then the mocha and espresso note comes in, deeper and slightly bitter in the best possible way. Then the Belgian semisweet chocolate chunks hits and adds that lush, sweet chocolate richness.
When all three come together, the flavor is close to a hazelnut chocolate spread. Think Nutella, but baked into a crisp twice-baked Italian biscotti with an espresso character and a clean sea salt finish. Rich, satisfying, and not cloyingly sweet.

The Customer Email That Started This Flavor
Chocolate Hazelnut Espresso Biscotti started with a customer named Dave.
Back in 2022, Dave emailed me more than once asking if we had ever made a dark chocolate espresso-style biscotti. He wrote, “Do you or have you ever made dark chocolate espresso bean, dark chocolate chunk biscotti? If ever, please let me know.”
I kept thinking about that email because I knew exactly what he was asking for. He wanted something bold, chocolatey, coffee-driven, and still crisp enough to feel like real biscotti.
Bruno LoGreco, Founder of The Biscotti Company
That is one of my favorite parts of running The Biscotti Company. Sometimes the next flavor does not come from a boardroom. It comes from a customer who loves biscotti enough to ask for something specific.
Why This Flavor Works
Some chocolate biscotti taste flat. Some coffee-flavored cookies taste artificial. This flavor works because it is built in layers, not shortcuts.
The hazelnuts bring the warmth and crunch that grounds the whole flavor. The cocoa and Belgian semisweet chocolate chunks bring the mocha depth. The coffee extract ties it together and pushes the flavor into that espresso-forward territory. The sea salt at the end sharpens everything and cleans the finish. Each element does its job, and when they arrive together in the same bite, the result is something greater than any one of them alone.

What Is the Difference Between Biscotti and Regular Cookies?
The biggest difference is texture. Biscotti are meant to be crisp and crunchy. Most cookies are soft or chewy. Biscotti are baked twice, which creates that clean snap and makes them perfect for dunking.
That second bake also helps biscotti hold their texture longer than most cookies. They are built for coffee, tea, espresso, or dessert wine, not just a quick bite and done.
How Is Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti Made?
Chocolate Hazelnut Espresso Biscotti starts with a biscotti dough built around hazelnut, chocolate, and espresso flavor. The dough is shaped into a log, baked once, cut into individual biscotti, and baked again.
That second bake is what gives biscotti their crisp snap. It is also what makes this flavor so good with coffee because the biscotto holds up in the cup without falling apart.
How to Enjoy Chocolate Hazelnut Espresso Biscotti
☕ Espresso
One quick dunk deepens the mocha note and makes the hazelnut and chocolate bloom together.
🥛 Cappuccino
The milk softens the espresso bite and pulls the hazelnut and chocolate into a richer, creamier profile.
🍨 Dessert Crunch
Crushed over vanilla gelato or ice cream, the hazelnut-chocolate-espresso combination becomes its own dessert topping.
Is This a Good Biscotti for Coffee Lovers?
Yes. If you are searching for hazelnut and coffee biscotti, this is exactly what you are looking for. The espresso note is already in the biscotti. Pair it with espresso, cappuccino, Americano, cold brew, or a bold dark roast and the mocha character deepens with every sip.

Who Is This Flavor For?
Chocolate Hazelnut Espresso Biscotti is for the person who wants something richer than classic almond, but not as one-dimensional as plain chocolate. If they love mocha, espresso drinks, hazelnut and chocolate combinations, or anything that feels like a small coffeehouse treat, this is the flavor to start with.
It is also one of the easiest flavors to gift to a coffee lover, because the flavor profile is familiar and immediately appealing even before the first bite.
